Volunteer Training as a LifeRing meeting facilitator on Vancouver Island

Giving back to a community that gave so much to me has been extremely rewarding. On January 30, 2008 I felt like I had something to offer my peers in recovery, so I started the first LifeRing group in Victoria. It has been hugely gratifying seeing the growth of LifeRing on Vancouver Island and being a volunteer facilitator provided me immense meaning and purpose to my life. I can also attest that being involved in LifeRing keeps me on the right track!! I am also provided an opportunity to help others along the way and be a role model for healthy living. I am now the Executive Director for LifeRing in Canada and yes I still do facilitate the occasional meeting when asked.

Do you want to be a volunteer LifeRing group facilitator here in Victoria or other parts of Vancouver Island to help start or run existing meetings? Do you have at least one year continuous sobriety? You don't need any special qualifications except a desire to give back and help others. We will train you to do the rest.

Upcoming training is November 3rd and 4th, 2012 in Victoria. Training runs six hours each day and total cost which includes lunch is $75. Training is being held at the Victoria Health Unit at 1947 Cook Street. Registration is required ahead of time and for application forms you can contact Michael@LifeRingCanada.org.
